Confused by Medicare? Then you're on the right website when it comes to mastering the "Medicare Maze!"
There are only two good things about turning 65. One, you made it. Two, you are now eligible for Medicare. Reaching 65 is depressing enough without having to unravel the "Medicare Maze," and this website, MedicarePhD, will do it for you in a rapid and simple manner.
The reason you don’t understand Medicare is that you still can't believe you are 65 and when someone asked you what Medicare insurance plan you have selected, you replied “I thought Medicare covered all of my medical expenses.” The person who asked you this question then looked at you like you were Forrest Gump’s offspring.
In one of Jimmy Buffet’s songs, he reminiscences that you are getting old when people instead of asking you “How Things Are,” people ask you “How Things Were.” OK Jimmy, we all agree 35 is better than being 65+, so let’s deal with it and move along. Not all of us are fortunate enough to have Warren Buffet as our uncle.
An article printed in the Wall Street Journal (April 14, 2009) stated that only 13% of individuals approaching retirement feel confident their money will last and as a result, two thirds plan to continue working after 65. The main reason they believe they should continue working is that they fear a catastrophic health issue will imperil their financial stability and they will have to be cared for by the government or their kids (not a good option).
Now you do not want to be a ward of the state and believe me, your kids don’t want you living with them, so take heed of the information in this website so this does not happen to you. In relation to kids, my three tell their mother that she will be welcome to live with any of them but they are actively looking for a retirement village to fill my needs. Unfortunately I am in perfect health, run 5 miles a day, and manage a couple of business enterprises, so I’m not ready to go just yet. Obviously I am leaving any assets I have left to my grandchildren.
